NEW YORK (Feb. 20, 2023) – Wiljanda “Jan” Boatwright, Vice President of Enrollment and Eligibility at Brighton Health Plan Solutions, has been named a Notable Black Leader by Crain’s New York Business. The 2023 list was compiled by Crain’s to identify and honor talented and accomplished Black individuals whose professional and communal achievements have enhanced New York City and the lives of its inhabitants.
“I am humbled to be included among these great community leaders,” said Boatwright, who spent 17 years in leadership positions in healthcare before joining Brighton. “I am fortunate that my professional background has lent itself to being in a position to help community members navigate their health benefit choices, which can often be confusing but have consequences.”
Boatwright is a career health insurance professional, with more than 20 years of experience managing the operational side of complex healthcare products. She joined Brighton Heath Plan Solutions in September 2020 to lead the company’s new enrollment and eligibility division, where she currently leads a large team of employees navigating enrollment and benefits administration to over 40,000 Service Employees International Union members.
In addition to her work at Brighton, Boatwright works on a volunteer basis with South Queens senior center communities to help seniors make complex decisions about Medicare enrollment and eligibility.
In 2014, she created PAKK Inc., an LLC that provides free educational services for seniors in the community regarding Medicare enrollment, benefits information, and nutrition services available to them. She also provides one-on-one assistance to seniors and their family members to help them navigate the complicated Medicare enrollment process. With Jan’s help, many seniors have avoided penalties for late enrollment and have made smarter choices regarding the benefits available to them.
Jan is also a charter member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee at Brighton.
